A Classic Christmas is not complete without a good telling of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, a story of one man's last chance to make a change in his life that will change EVERYTHING. This year, Rev John Ferris, who has been performing the Carol (from memory) for over 50yrs, will share the same (shorter) version Dickens himself used for public readings; serving as the narrator and ALL the characters! Rev Ferris is only asking for a love offering from participants– which he will share with a benevolence in our area. PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR! |
Nov 30th- First Sunday of Advent- HOPE
|
The Spirit of Christmas Past is an opportunity for Scrooge to look at where he has been, and how his life shaped into the current place it is. We all look tot he past, sometimes with fondness and other times with regret. The Christmas Carol helps us to see that our past is not a measure of what we 'should be'- but in looking to our past, we get an understanding of where we still 'COULD BE'. Hope is NOT a childish thing. It's a brilliant light that leads our way!
